No, silly. Not my REAL pilot I’ve been married to for 20 years……my vehicle called the Pilot.
Here’s my baby:

Isn’t she pretty (yes, she’s a “she”…mostly because the computer has a female voice…shut up….it’s a “she”)?
Wait….wanna see The Boy’s view from the back seat?

Nice, right? Did you check out the navigation screen to the right of the steering wheel? Sweet.
And we wounldn’t wanna be remiss in providing The Boy with his own climate control and convenient cup holders and massive leg room. Oh, yes. It’s all there:

Wait…I KNOW ya wanna know about the cargo space. Baby, we got cargo space! Third seat is there under the beautiful cargo mat which I will normally use. Because, seriously….we are only three people!

And now the big finish. Baby got back! Rear window wiper and extra lights around the license plate. She is a HAMMER!

Now….what shall I name her? She and I will be together for the next 10 years or so. Any suggestions?

In honor of this most auspicious day, here are a few toasts from me to you.
May your neighbors respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.
May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you’re dead.
Here’s a toast to your enemies’ enemies!

‘Sláinte!

How far would you go to show your patriotism? Would you fight for your country? Would you go out in an ice storm to vote? Would you support a soldier currently fighting for your freedom?
Or…would you turn down discounted oil from one of our enemies? The people in Alaska are doing just that. As Paula says, these are very cold, very principled people. Paula links to the AP story posted on CNN. Here is a quote from the tribe:
“As a citizen of this country, you can have your own opinion of our president and our country. But I don’t want a foreigner coming in here and bashing us,” said Justine Gunderson, administrator for the tribal council in the Aleut village of Nelson Lagoon. “Even though we’re in economically dire straits, it was the right choice to make.”
Amen.

Tommy found us a new wine last time he was in Buenos Aires. We’ve determined that the bottle contains EXACTLY four of these fine Waterford red wine glasses at the exact mark of the arrow. See?

Yes, definitely good…and worth fighting for that last glass.

I think I can safely say this can be filed under “What is Good”. Tommy’s brother sent us this for Christmas. Now, normally a small appliance like this is something nice to have but also something that you might rarely use.
However…we have an 11 year old in the house. HE seems to think that it makes sense that with each and every meal, at least one thing should be deep fried. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve taken to deep frying just his stuff and cooking my stuff a more healthy way. I mean, seriously…I’d weigh 300 pounds very soon if I kept eating fried food at every meal.
Two days ago, I put the deep fryer under the counter in a cabinet, hoping that the “out of sight, out of mind” theory would apply.
No such luck.
Today, I’ll be deep frying a potato cut into steak fries for him and his friend at lunch.
Help.

We’ve had this little bottle of Chilean wine sitting around for a while. I know I’ve had it once before, but know I know for sure it’s the absolute BEST bottle Mr. Average has brought home so far. As you can see, I have left a little in the carafe due to the requirement that if I finish it I have to wash it. No chance. Mr. Average will have to wash it himself once he has the rest tomorrow night…that is, if his damn cough is gone by then. Anyway, let’s just say this wine is just like drinking the best grape juice in the world…with a kick. It’s an absolute joy and so belongs in the “What is Good” category. Few things do, you know.

P.S. You know the wine is good when the next day you attempt to make waffles on the George Foreman grill instead of the waffle iron. That’s all I’m saying about that….

My hubby’s back from Chile and he brought with him my most favorite of all the wines he’s ever found while “working”. It’s the Morande’ Vineyard Limited Edition Syrah/Cabernet Savignon from the Maipo Valley. Most excellent.

I know some people claim that sugar is bad, especially for kids. But I have to say from personal experience – as it relates to Scytheboy – sugar is GOOD. It makes so many things possible. Like ensuring he gets the proper amount of fruits in his diet – just cover them with sugar and he will eat anything. Sugar also gets you lots of hugs – like when you make sugar cookies. Then you get lots of hugs. Sugar gets you lots of things. But most importantly…..it can get you a nice, long nap on a rainy afternoon. If you eat sugar and give your family sugar, then about an hour later everyone gets that nice, sleepy sugar slump and the house suddenly becomes a LOT more quiet…and then you get a nap. Yes, indeed. Sugar is good.
