It Suddenly Occurred To Me….

I haven’t posted here in a while.  Guess I’ve joined the many slackers out there this time of year.  We took a quick trip out west to see some relatives for Christmas, but now we’re back.

A few notes about the trip:

1.  It’s always good to go see relatives if you have the time.  It makes everyone happy.

2.  It’s probably never good to play Wheel of Fortune on your PC while the spouse is driving, and then constantly ask him to look at the screen and give letter or vowel suggestions, or even to just solve the puzzle.

3.  Those Planet Earth DVDs are cool.  And they keep passengers quiet and occupied while you drive.

4.  I think I’m addicted to fruits and vegetables.  With all the yummy Christmas meats and treats and casseroles that barely contained any green…well let’s just say I’m glad to be back on my regular diet (he he).

5.  The cat did fine while we were away…he didn’t even go after anything on the tree which was a nice surprise.

I think that’s it.  See?  Not much to talk about.  The spouse is already back on the road for a trip but hopefully he will be back in time to toast in the new year.

Cheers.

Good News And Bad News

I got glasses last week, which can be considered both good news and bad news because:

1.  I can see.  That’s the good news.

2.  I can see.  That’s the bad news….because now it takes like twice as long to clean the house because I can see more dirt than I used too.

Oh well….at least now I don’t have to walk around squinting all day long.  I guess that’s also good news.  Oh and also, I can read the street signs while driving.  I guess that’s good news for everyone else on the road!

Some Questions

1.  Did I really think some sort of Chicago machine politics scandal would NOT come to light after the election?  Ummm….no.

2.  Do I think Obama was directly involved in the phone call set up to sell his Senate seat?  No.

3.  Do I think one of his people or someone on behalf of one of his people was involved?  Yes.

4.  Do I think that as soon as they realized what was going on they ran away as fast as they could?  Yes.  Stupid is one thing they are not.

5.  Do I think Obama was involved in simular conversations at times when he was rising to power in Illinois politics?  Yes.  He had to be.

6.  Do I think people on BOTH sides of the aisle were involved in similar type conversations and deals during their careers?  Yes.  That’s politics.  Anyone who thinks it doesn’t happen is in total and complete denial.  You have to give up something to get something in that game.  Influence, power, a position…whatever.

7.  Am I pissed the networks absolutely refuse to callout Bogo’s party affiliation when covering the story?  Yes.  Pissed, but not suprised.  I mean….they might as well call themselves “The Democratic ABC nework”, “The Democratic NBC network” and “The Democratic CBS network”.  That would be DABC, DNBC, and DCBS for short.

8.  Do I think there will be more and more things uncovered about various scandals and deals at least through the first year of Obama’s presidency?  Yes.  Rezko is talking and that can’t be good.  He was in DEEP with Rezko.

9.  Do I understand why everyone who voted for Obama was willing to overlook the Rezko, Wright, etc. scandals…never mind that he launched his political career in the home of demostic terrorist?  No.  I never will understand that.  I believe you should be judged by the company you keep…if you keep that company for more than 20 years knowing full well what that company said and did and how they felt about America.

10. Do I think those that voted for Obama will forgive anything that is found regarding how his co-horts handled themselves in this deal and others?  Yes.  I can’t imagine why they would actually care now, since they didn’t when they voted.

11.  Do I think CHANGE and believing the liberal media while ignoring the facts will continue to contribute to the falsely positive way in which Obama is perceived by the masses?  Unfortunately, yes.

I’m glad it’s Friday.  I need a drink.  Because being right about The One and the Chicago political machine from which he rose….well let’s just say sometimes being right is not a good thing.  I mean really….I don’t think anyone – even those that voted for him – is happy about what we’re finding out even before the guy gets sworn in.

It’s gonna be a long, long four years.

Where Did I Put That Sweater?

Because seriously, I think I only have like one sweater that’s decent and fits.  And….IT’S 26 DEGREES OUT THERE!!!

Even my jeans are too thin to wear in this weather.  Now I must go and try to dig up some old warm give-away type pullovers from when I worked for a company in Utah years ago.  And also, I must brave the cold so I can go and get some peppermint schnapps for my hot chocolate.

Brrrrr!!!!!

P.S.  There are reasons why we decided to settle in Texas after the Air Force, and weather like this was NOT on the list, dammit!

What?

Overheard while ordering lunch the other day:

Me:  “I’d like a mushroom burger with mustard instead of mayonnaise, no tomato, no pickles and cook it medium.”

Tommy:  “I’d like a jalapeno burger.”

The Waitress:  (glancing at me with poorly veiled irritation) “Would you like to make any changes on that, sir?”

Tommy:  “No.”

What?  If you don’t like mayonnaise and you do like mustard and you don’t like pickles and tomatoes, what’s wrong with ordering it the way you like it?  What?!
