Here’s What I Don’t Get…
Some of the same people who are constantly complaining that we are risking American lives by helping out in Iraq are now whining that we should have done a raid and tried to capture Al-Zarqawi instead of dropping 10,000 Lbs. of bombs and making sure the guy and some of his helpers were taken out.
One way or the other. Risk American lives or not. For some reason, they think it’s OK to risk American lives to protect the life of a person that’s murdered countless numbers (one of them caught on tape when he took off Nick Berg’s head) by trying to execute a raid that would surely result in the death or injury of American soldiers – but it’s not OK to make sure the guy is taken out with the least risk to our soldiers so he can’t lead his followers to continue killing innocent Iraqis and valiant Americans.
I just don’t get it. Pacifism is a very noble thought and all…but we just can’t afford to make decisions based on a very noble ideal of how the world should be. To win this thing, we must deal with what is real and find real solutions that work. Freedom from terror cannot come without a price. I don’t think anyone would disagree that the guy was a truly ruthless leader and killer and the world as a whole is a better place without him.
Oh, and as for Pelosi and Kerry coming out immediately and urging the cut and run scenario….don’t they have anything new to say? Can’t they at least acknowledge these are huge wins? Well….of course not. Sorry, for a minute there I thought they might put their own agendas aside and just be Americans for once. I’m sure they’re not pleased about how Zarqawi’s demise and the completion of the Iraqi cabinet will effect their political plans.
We are getting much closer to winning this thing in Iraq with these developments. Pulling our troops and running away is not the answer. The fact is it was American war planes that accomplished this task – with the help of Iraqi informants. We must continue to work together as we gain ground against the terrorists.
Sorry to all you pacifists out there. I know any death hits you really hard. But I have to say I’d rather have it be Zarqawi and his henchmen than more of our soldiers or innocent Iraqis.

I saw it on the news at the hotel today and cheered! Great post, Peaches. You always articulate these things better than I can. Great post. I’ve got your back if you need me!

This is a HUGE victory! I understand those who question whether we should have gone into Iraq in the first place, but once we’re there, we need to go all out. It’s a sad truth that the harder and meaner we fight, the sooner it’ll be over for everyone. And Americans who don’t care about American lives…well, how can you reason with them?

“But I have to say I’d rather have it be Zarqawi and his henchmen than more of our soldiers or innocent Iraqis.”
