40 Random ThoughtsYes, that's right. I feel like posting but I don't have anything concrete around a centralized idea to say, so here we go again with random thoughts:
1. We had to put the cat on a diet.
2. He weighs 14.5 pounds.
3. The cat does NOT like being on a diet.
4. Food that he would leave alone before has moved up the ladder and is now closely investigated when left out.
5. Tommy had to go to Buenos Aires today.
6. Because we are almost out of wine.
7. No really, he actually had a trip.
8. But that doesn't mean he won't buy wine while there.
9. The cat woke me up at 8 this morning because he was hungry.
10. I didn't like that.
11. The Boy was already up playing the XBox 360 by then.
12. And the pool was full of plant material due to a rain and wind storm last night.
13. So I had to clean out the pool.
14. I hate to clean the pool.
15. I may have to call those wonderful pool vacuuming guys to come visit and actually pay for the work this time.
16. Maybe.
17. I took The Boy to get jeans today.
18. It was not fun.
19. He's particular about his clothes.
20. And his hair.
21. But I digress.
22. I am keeping to the menu put before you earlier this week.
23. Yes, we had enchiladas and Spanish rice tonight.
24. It was good.
25. Earlier today I took a long nap while The Boy....
26. Wait for it.....
27. Played XBox 360.
28. The Boy has bad allergy symptoms today after that storm.
29. So staying inside was key to cut down on the sneezing and coughing and nose drainage, and....
30. Well, you get the picture.
31. Why do I continue?
32. Clearly I have nothing to say.
33. So I will finish this post because Saturday Night Live is a new one.
34. And Antonio Banderas is the host.
35. Love Antonio Banderas.
36. And all that ballroom stuff he's doing in his new movie.
37. I can't remember what the name of that new movie is.
38. But I don't care...
39. Because...well...Antonio Banderas.
40. I must go now and pre-drink before SNL.
Buh-bye.

Why?Why am I so tired?
Why is it so windy?
Why did I go back to sleep for two and a half hours after taking The Boy to school today?
Why was it so hard to convince myself to go to the gym after getting all that sleep?
Why don't they sell normal bike shorts that aren't so short they show your butt cheeks at the store anymore?
Why do they make workout pants called "capris" that look like full length pants on me?
Why am I so short?
Why do I think The Boy's too cute for words with those orange Cheetoh crumbs all over his lips?
Why do I melt when I see The Boy's blue eyes with their long dark curly eyelashes?
Why is our airline of choice going to make Tommy go to work when his dad's in the hospital?
Why can't it be just a few degrees warmer so we can move into spring already?
Why can't we decide what we want for dinner?
Why does Waterford crystal cost so much?
Why do we keep buying Waterford crystal even though it costs so much?
Why can't someone else wash my car?
Why can't someone else mow my lawn?
Why do I get grumpy when I don't work out?
Why does it take so long to do the laundry?
Why do people now insist on calling people that are here illegally "undocumented citizens"?
Why is it now considered politically correct to support law-breakers who entered our country illegally?
Why is immigration reform more important than reforming social security?
Why am I so frustrated with politicians on all sides?
Why am I listening to the news while typing this?
Why don't I instead try and go find The Boy something to eat?
Why does The Boy keep snacking while claiming he is not hungry?
Why does he not know we must not deviate from the schedule?
Why do I have a schedule?
Why does everyone else that lives in this house detest having a schedule?
Why can't I stop asking why?
Why?

21 Random Thoughts on Highway DrivingWe made it to our hub city and now we are getting ready to go wait for our flight to London. During our 13 hours on the road, I recalled some things about road trips and noticed others I thought I'd mention. So here goes....
1. When I was growing up, we got up before the sun and drove all day.
2. We rarely stopped for anything other than gas and if we begged really hard a bathroom break.
3. My dad tended to "forget" we had to go when he passed each exit and heard the wails and screams from the back seat saying we REALLY had to go.
4. I think that was really mean.
5. Now that I'm older, I married a guy who WILL stop when anyone has to go.
6. He's nice that way.
7. Instead of having sandwiches from home or crappy doughnuts, we go OUT for breakfast and lunch.,
8. I love going out for breakfast.
9. Now I'M the mom and I get to ride up in the front seat.
10. The boy doesn't like it that I get to ride up in the front seat.
11. I'd like to know...where the HELL was the fire? Many, many people were driving 85 plus through Mississippi and Alabama.
12. I got a speeding ticket in July so I didn't drive that fast when it was my turn.
13. I prefer it when Tommy drives.
14. So does he.
15. But his back doesn't.
16. So I drove some anyway.
17. 13 hours is really too long to drive.
18. But we're here now.
19. And now we can go to London.
20. Did I mention that I'm tired?
21. Well I'm tired.
That is all.

Random Thoughts for MondayYa got me. I don't really have anything...except my normal boring day. So here goes on random thoughts for today:
1. Tommy's on a 6 day trip.
2. That's not really a long time.
3. When you consider that he was gone for a year once.
4. But I'm not whining.
5. A week apart can be good sometimes.
6. I've spent the majority of the past few days in my pj's and sweats.
7. It was grand.
8. It was 82 here today.
9. Yes, I laid out by the pool.
10. The pool filter is broken.
11. But that's okay they're going to fix it within the week.
12. I had a headache earlier.
13. But I don't now.
14. I took Excedrin and drank wine.
15. I highly recommend 13 and 14 for a headache cure.
16. Grilled chicken is better than baked chicken.
17. It helps to motivate the boy when you buy a new guitar book with tabs.
18. He likes tabs.
19. I don't know why.
20. It's freakin' 7:00 p.m. on 24 and they STILL have not eaten, had anything to drink, or gone to the bathroom.
21. This disturbs me...greatly.
22. Did I say it was 82 here today?
23. It will be 80 tomorrow - and partly sunny.
24. I will once again lay by a pool that does not work in the glorious sun.
25. Did you hear that Buffi? 80 and partly sunny.
26. It's open house tomorrow.
27. None of the teachers have admitted to having anything useful to show or say.
28. It's highly doubtful we'll go.
29. Because I'll be tired.
30. From laying in the...SUN!!
31. And Tommy gets home tomorrow night.
32. I must be available to pour beer and refill peanuts.
33. It's the rule.
34. When he gets home.
35. Because I don't have to work.
36. The least I can do is pull a beer from the keg and refill peanuts (or delegate the responsibility which is probably what I'll do).
37. Beer is good.
38. That had to be said.
39. I didn't have to watch one single commercial tonight.
40. I love the dual tuner DVR.
That is all.

Random Thoughts on Technology1. We had Comcast service for cable and broadband.
2. We don't anymore.
3. Because it was expensive.
4. And I kept losing the signal to the router...several times a day and always at the most inconvenient times.
5. I lost some posts because of Comcast.
6. I did not like Comcast.
7. Cable companies in general are evil.
8. Comcast is losing the market - at least in our neighborhood - fast.
9. Because NOW there is something better, cheaper, and faster.
10. It is called Verizon FIOS.
11. It is glorious.
12. The cable picture is better, the broadband speed is faster, and I have not lost broadband signal at ALL in days.
13. Verizon FIOS TV comes with dual tuner DVRs.
14. I love dual tuner DVRs.
15. Not that I'm addicted to TV or anything...certainly NOT me.
16. We canceled our TiVo account.
17. But guess what? You can STILL use it to record shows and pause live TV. But you can't update your guide is all.
18. We updated our guide with Verizon info. before we canceled our TiVo service. Tommy's smart that way :).
19. Did I say I LOVE the dual tuner DVR? Now I can watch American Idol and record Deal or no Deal - AT THE SAME TIME.
20. For those of you which already have a dual tuner DVR...shut up. I'm excited. Don't spoil it for me.
21. I don't own an MP3 player and I rarely listen to music.
22. Except maybe if I'm cleaning.
23. Some would say I clean all the time so therefore I must listen to music all the time.
24. I don't clean all the time...just when something needs cleaning...oh....never mind.
25. We are early adopters of technology.
26. FIOS is so new they haven't even trained their techs on their new laptops which must be used to activate services on site at your house.
27. This must be why they schedule installs in four hour blocks of time...all that navigating through an unfamiliar program.
28. But that's OK, they hire talented guys and they figure it out eventually.
29. Our house is so wired that some nights we all sit at our respective computers and chat via IM as we do what we do on our own computers.
30. Yes, this includes the boy. Shut up, he is not spoiled rotten...spoiled maybe but certainly not rotten.
31. The HD DVR is cool too and it has its own dual tuner. Now Tommy can record hockey while he's away...oh boy.
32. Did I mention that the boy has a cable box in his room and TV recording software on his computer so he can also record shows and watch them back later on his monitor through his computer?
33. I TOLD you, he's not rotten. Just spoiled.
Those are my random thoughts on technology. Now I must go watch one thing while the DVR records another thing...just because I can.

40 Random Thoughts from TodayI didn't have a "real" post for today - per se- but I do have some random thoughts so here goes:
1. I've been painting.
2. The guest bathroom under the stairs.
3. A dark color.
4. With a light ceiling.
5. And accent trim and door.
6. I hate painting.
7. I REALLY hate painting.
8. I hate painting so much that Tommy called in a contractor, which will be painting all the ceilings and walls in the visible parts of our house later this month.
9. Why didn't we go ahead and have them paint the bathroom too?
10. Nobody knows, not even us. Maybe because we already bought the paint and I claimed I needed something to do.
11. Remind me to tell Tommy to remind me the next time I think painting a room's a good "something for me to do"....not to believe me.
12. But I digress.
13. Did I mention that I hate painting?
14. And all that goes with it?
15. The taping - HATE the taping - but ya gotta do it or you'll be sorry.
16. And for some reason the Scotch blue painter's tape is the only one that really works. What's up with that?
17. I might possibly hate sanding even more - but again, ya gotta do it. To avoid extra coats. On the trim and door.
18. Always remember to PAINT THE CEILING FIRST.
19. Nothing sucks more than painting a dark color on the walls, and a light color on the ceiling, which drips on the freshly painted dark walls.
20. Didn't do that this time...but HAVE done that before. BIG mistake.
21. Dark colors require more coats.
22. I hate more coats.
23. The ceiling's done, the walls are done, and first coat of paint on trim and door is done.
24. Did I mention I HATE to paint?
25. Why is it taking me days to do one tiny bathroom, whereas the contractor claims his experienced crew of five or 6 can do all visible parts of our house (22' ceilings, sheet rock repair and all) in merely a day?
26. Is that fair? I don't think so.
27. Why is that I painted the entire ceiling (twice - OK I confess, Tommy did it once too but I did it twice) without getting much paint on me?...
28. And the dark blue walls - twice - again, not much paint.
29. And by the end of today (long painting day 2) - I had huge splotches of the trim and door paint on my old yoga paints, old t-shirt, in my hair, and on my shoes?
30. What's up with that?
31. Must be because I HATE TO PAINT and it's the end of day 2.
32. I have to be done tomorrow.
33. Because I have a nail appointment.
34. My nail lady's gonna be mad at me.
35. Because I ran out of gloves at noon today.
36. Three pairs weren't enough.
37. I've had half a bottle of wine.
38. Because I had to paint today.
39. I'm saving the other half.
40. Because I have to paint again tomorrow.
That is all.

Random ThoughtsI don't have a post for today (per se) so I thought I'd provide some useless ramblings for your entertainment. Here goes:
1. I've had a headache for four days. It's one of those that hangs out behind your eyes, roaming from behind one eye to the other or camping out between them. What a nice holiday treat.
2. I made the mistake of waiting too long to take Excedrin when this headache first started. I knew I was in trouble when I finally caved and took it...and it did absolutely nothing to dull the pain.
3. In case you're interested, it's behind my right eye now. I took two Excedrin and two Advil about a half hour ago. And now I can actually sit in front of the computer and look at the screen without cringing in pain...so I guess that's something.
4. I had my eyebrows waxed yesterday....FYI, don't do that when you have a headache. It doesn't help.
5. I cleaned the house today, because I figured I already had the headache - surely a little dust couldn't make it any worse - WRONG!!.
6. I tried drinking four rum and cokes last night to dull the pain...didn't work but my face got kinda numb and I was in a good mood so it was an improvement.
7. The headache was still there after I got back from the gym yesterday and today. Didn't make it any worse, but didn't make it any better.
8. Today at lunch, I was convinced the cause of the headache was withdrawal pangs from McDonald's. The no. 1 value meal didn't help, but it sure was tasty.
9. Scytheboy's a sweetie when I have a headache. He mixes me drinks and puts his hand on my forehead whenever I want. Nothing like a son's comfort when you're a sick mom.
10. I think the cause of the headache is allergies from the Christmas tree. But I like a real tree. I refuse to cave. No artificial trees at the Average household.
11. The cat keeps drinking water out out of the Christmas tree stand and the pine needles on the low branches have rubbed bald spots on his ears. Stubborn cat.
12. Tommy will be home less than a day over Christmas. He leaves Christmas morning to go back to work. He has back to back trips to South America the week between Christmas and New Year's. He gets home New Year's day.
13. It goes without saying that Tommy's December schedule sucks.
14. Scytheboy and I are attempting free flights to Wisconsin the day after Christmas to see my side of the family. It will be the first time in MANY years that myself, my two sisters and my brother will be in the same state with our children.
15. Wish us luck on getting seats.
16. The headache is now down to a dull roar.
17. That is good.
18. I've become hooked on Deal or No Deal. Why?
19. Scytheboy and I are going to watch The Brothers Grimm tonight in Tommy's man room upstairs.
20. Don't tell him.
